GE Aerospace received a U.S. Air Force contract to complete the preliminary design review of its GE426 medium-thrust engine for autonomous combat aircraft.

The GE426 program follows GE's August 2025 concept design review and builds on the company's GEK800 and GEK1500 engine development work with Kratos Defense.

Russia's United Aircraft Corporation flew the two-seat Su-57 prototype for the first time on May 19, with test pilot Sergei Bogdan at the controls, days after ground taxi runs were first reported.
