UK MRO Provider To Conduct Leasing Maintenance For AerCap
UK-based MRO provider Caerdav has signed an agreement with leasing giant AerCap for maintenance services related to narrowbody aircraft.
Under the agreement, Caerdav will carry out services on Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft including end of lease, transition checks, entry into service and redelivery work for Dublin-headquartered AerCap. Maintenance work will be carried out from Caerdav’s base in St Athan, Wales, located around 20 mi. from the Welsh capital of Cardiff.
Caerdav said a factor in winning the new agreement was its recent investment in its back-shop capabilities in Wales, which expanded its non-destructive testing (NDT), paint repairs, restoration and heat treatment services. Like many MRO providers, the independent MRO is striving to deliver a one-stop-shop offering for aircraft entering its hangars.
In 2024, Caerdav grew capacity by 50% after adding a third maintenance line in St Athan, and the company said going forward, as slots increase, it will target further business within the leading industry.
AerCap, which leases aircraft, engines and helicopters, is the world’s largest leasing company following its 2021 merger with GE Capital Aviation Services. The lessor has more than 1,700 commercial aircraft owned, managed or on order. AerCap also has an order book for more than 300 new-generation aircraft.
The company’s engine interests are comprised of more than 1,000 managed and owned assets through its AerCap Engines business. AerCap also holds a 50% stake in Shannon Engine Support, a partnership with Safran focused on CFM International CFM56 and Leap engine leasing.
