TransNusa launches Lampung-Kuala Lumpur direct flight service | Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association

PUTRAJAYA: Tourism Malaysia, in collaboration with TransNusa Airlines and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), welcomed the inaugural direct flight between Lampung, Indonesia, and Kuala Lumpur on Monday, strengthening regional connectivity as part of efforts to drive the Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 campaign.

The TransNusa flight, operated by a C909 aircraft with a capacity of 95 economy-class seats, arrived safely at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 with Lampung governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal as the guest of honour. The route will operate daily, with seven flights a week.

The inaugural arrival ceremony was attended by Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general (Promotions II) Lee Thai Hung, TransNusa Group chief executive officer Datuk Bernard Francis and MAHB senior general manager Abd Hasman Abd Muhimin.

The new route is expected to improve connectivity between Malaysia and Indonesia while supporting growth in tourism, trade and economic cooperation.

Lee, in a statement today, said the direct flight would provide greater opportunities for collaboration among tourism industry players in both countries while encouraging more visitors from Lampung Province to travel to Malaysia.

"With shorter travel times and improved accessibility, Malaysia is well-positioned to attract travellers from Lampung seeking diverse holiday experiences, including cultural heritage sites, natural attractions, culinary offerings, shopping destinations and family-friendly activities," he said.

Meanwhile, Bernard said the launch of the Lampung-Kuala Lumpur scheduled flight marked a new phase in TransNusa's expansion by opening a new route for travellers seeking convenient access between the two destinations.

From January to June 2026, Malaysia recorded 21.1 million international visitor arrivals, a 2.5 per cent increase compared with the 20.6 million arrivals recorded during the same period last year.
