Sepang Hub Could Anchor Selangor’s Next Growth Chapter In Aerospace And Logistics
SD Guthrie Bhd and Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) (MBI Selangor) are exploring a large-scale, 2,500-acre mixed-use industrial development within Sepang Estate, Selangor.
The proposed development is intended to fortify the state’s aerospace, logistics and high-value industrial sectors.
The proposed development, located adjacent to KLIA Aeropolis within the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor, is envisioned as an industrial park supported by commercial and residential components. It is positioned under state planning frameworks including Rancangan Selangor Pertama and the Sepang Infinity Corridor Hub under the Sepang Local Plan 2035.
In a joint memorandum of understanding signing, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the project reflects the state’s push to develop a strategically planned township and industrial zone that supports long-term economic growth.
“The project is designed to support high-value industries, including aerospace and logistics, as part of a broader and diversified economic ecosystem. It will also complement Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s next phase of growth, strengthen Selangor’s attractiveness to global investors, and is projected to create more than 32,000 job opportunities by 2030,” he said.
The development is expected to include manufacturing, logistics and value-added services infrastructure, alongside training centres, business facilities and community amenities designed to support a live-work environment.

Why Sepang Matters Strategically
Beyond the immediate development plans, the proposed hub could further reinforce Sepang’s emergence as one of Malaysia’s most strategic industrial growth corridors.
With direct access to Kuala Lumpur International Airport and close connectivity to Port Klang via major highway networks, the area offers investors a rare multi-modal advantage combining air cargo, sea freight and land transport access. This is increasingly valuable as manufacturers and logistics players diversify supply chains across Southeast Asia.
The location also places Sepang in a favourable position to attract aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul activities, precision engineering, advanced manufacturing, regional warehousing and e commerce fulfilment operations.
If supported by talent development, transport connectivity and efficient investor facilitation, the wider Sepang corridor could evolve into a major aerospace and logistics powerhouse over the coming decade.
SD Guthrie Chairman Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani said the initiative marks the group’s continued focus on high-impact land development, adding that it builds on an earlier collaboration with MBI Selangor in Carey Island.
“We are aiming to create long-term value through strategic land development and industrial clustering to support Selangor’s economic transformation,” he said.
MBI Selangor Chief Executive Officer Saipolyazan M Yusop said the project is intended to serve as a strategic growth node within IDRISS, strengthening Selangor’s aviation and industrial base while leveraging proximity to KLIA.
