Sarawak Eyes Aerospace Talent Development with APACE 2026

KUCHING (Jan 6): Sarawak is set to host the Asia Pacific Aerospace Conference & Exhibition (APACE) 2026 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from Jan 26 to 29, reinforcing its position as a regional aerospace hub.

Citing a report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the conference and exhibition will place a strong emphasis on talent development within the aerospace and aviation sectors.

“As everyone knows, Sarawak now has its own airline, Air Borneo.

“We want Sarawakians to acquire skills in avionics, aviation, aerospace, satellite technology and related fields. That is our main goal at the initial stage,” he said at a press conference after paying a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Satria Pertiwi Complex, Petra Jaya, on Tuesday.

Sagah added that the APACE 2026 is organised by the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development in collaboration with ICATS University College, with support from Business Events Sarawak and Borneo Business Connect.

The event is expected to attract over 3,000 visitors, over 1,000 delegates, more than 50 exhibitors, and over 60 prominent speakers, covering more than 50 conference sessions.

Among the participating organisations are the National Aerospace Industry Corporation (Naico Malaysia), Naco Netherlands, Malaysian Space Agency (Mysa), Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (Jaxa), and NOVASPACE France.

Meanwhile, Sagah said the delegation’s visit was also to extend an invitation to the Premier to officiate APACE 2026.

Also present was Sarawak Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.
