SAINS, EarthEye Sign MoU to enhance satellite data & earth observation

KUCHING, Jan 27: Sarawak Information Systems Sdn. Bhd. (SAINS) has formalized a collaboration with EarthEye Space Technologies Pte. Ltd. by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing the use of satellite-based data and Earth observation technologies to support Sarawak’s development in the sector.

In a statement, Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of SAINS Busiai Seman, highlighted that this partnership provides a structured framework for joint efforts in satellite imagery processing and analysis.

“The focus will be on utilizing Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and optical satellite imagery to enable practical applications across a variety of sectors.

“These initiatives are designed to foster more effective planning and better-informed decision-making in areas such as infrastructure development, environmental monitoring, disaster management, urban planning, and resource management,” Busiai said in a media release today.

He further added that this collaboration strengthens SAINS’ capacity to leverage satellite data, particularly SAR imagery, to support enhanced planning and decision-making processes.

“Through our partnership with EarthEye Space, we aim to provide practical solutions that will drive Sarawak’s development and contribute to its sustainability objectives,” he said.

As part of the collaboration, EarthEye Space Technologies will provide a secure platform for the efficient processing and analysis of satellite imagery, ensuring that SAINS and its stakeholders have timely access to valuable insights.

This partnership also aligns with Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which emphasizes harnessing digital technology and innovation to fuel sustainable growth and development.

The MoU exchange took place during the Asia Pacific Aerospace Conference and Exhibition (APACE) 2026 in Kuching, where the ceremony was witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. – TVS
