RTX and Asia Digital Engineering grow nacelle support for CFM56 fleet

Collins Aerospace, an RTX business (NYSE: RTX), enhance their long-term Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services agreement by signing a letter of intent with Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) for increased nacelle support in Malaysia.

Collins’ technicians will have the opportunity to provide knowledge transfer and training for nacelle inspection, composite, and mechanical repairs to ADE engineers, building upon existing technical skills and increasing technical competence for ADE. Collins will in turn support the full lifecycle of AirAsia’s CFM56-5B fleet until the end of its lease.

“This agreement strengthens the MRO and nacelle repair capabilities available for the CFM56 fleet,” said Dana Stephenson, vice president of Aftermarket for Aerostructures at Collins Aerospace. “Collins, ADE and AirAsia this allows excellent MRO service and timely deliveries to our customers in the Asia Pacific region.”

“We are glad to collaborate with Collins Aerospace,” said Mahesh Kumar, chief executive officer at Asia Digital Engineering. “Collins and ADE have established an alliance and worked closely in the past, which will be beneficial for our engineers and technicians to learn from the best and deliver the goals of ADE.” “The goal is to provide the best value with high efficiency across an extensive coverage of locations.”

The arrangement will improve efficiencies and turnaround times for maintenance services for aircraft. This agreement contributes to the industry’s environmental sustainability goals by extending the life of the plane and ensuring high dispatch reliability for aircraft.

Collins’ manufactures top of the line nacelles that are lightweight, durable structures that surround an engine. Nacelles provide engine protection, reduce sound, control airflow, and provide thrust reversing capabilities which slow an aircraft when landing.
