Raya Airways adds Boeing 767-300 Freighter to fleet, a first for Southeast Asia
KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 14): Raya Airways Sdn Bhd has announced the arrival of its first Boeing 767-300 Freighter, making it the first airline in Malaysia and Southeast Asia to operate this aircraft type in dedicated cargo service.
The Boeing 767-300 Freighter is part of the air carrier’s ongoing fleet modernisation and expansion plan. It currently has a fleet of Boeing 767 and Airbus A321, according to its website.
“As the first Southeast Asian operator of the B767-300 Freighter, we are proud to set new standards in performance and efficiency. The aircraft’s versatility and payload capability will enable us to better serve our customers’ evolving logistics needs while supporting the rapid growth of e-commerce and express freight in this region,” group managing director Mohamad Najib Ishak said in a statement.
He added that the new aircraft will enhance Raya Airways’ network capability and service reliability, allowing the airline to operate longer routes and connect more trade destinations across Asia.
Known for its fuel efficiency and range, the Boeing 767-300 Freighter can carry up to 56 tonnes of cargo. Its introduction is expected to improve Raya Airways’ cost efficiency and operational flexibility, solidifying its position as a strategic cargo partner for regional and international clients.
Founded in 1993 as Transmile Air Services, and later rebranded as Raya Airways, the company operates scheduled and charter cargo flights across major Asian markets such as China, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam, as well as key destinations in Sabah and Sarawak.
The carrier also provides air freight solutions for businesses, including air cargo transportation, aircraft charter, ground handling, maintenance, repair, and overhaul as well as commercial cargo space selling.
