Newly listed GTA lands Safran distributorship for Brunei

KUCHING (September 11): GTA Holdings Bhd (GTA), which debuted on Bursa Malaysia’s ACE Market on Monday, has secured an authorised distributorship for Safran Helicopter Engines products and services in Brunei Darussalam.

The aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) group said in a statement on Friday that its wholly owned subsidiary Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd (Global Turbine) and Safran Helicopter Engines Asia (Safran HE) have formalised a distributor agreement for Brunei.

In a separate filing with Bursa Malaysia, GTA said Global Turbine entered into the agreement for its appointment as an authorised non-exclusive distributor of selected Safran Helicopter Engines products and services in the sultanate.

The agreement formalises the distributorship following a memorandum of understanding entered into between Global Turbine and Safran HE in July on the proposed expansion of their collaboration into Brunei.

GTA said the appointment marks the formalisation of its authorised distributorship role in Brunei and strengthens the company’s presence in the regional aerospace support market.

“This appointment is particularly meaningful as it reflects the confidence Safran Helicopter Engines Asia has placed in GTA after years of close collaboration and partnership.

“It is a testament to our team’s technical capabilities, operational standards and commitment to supporting customers across the region,” said GTA managing director and chief executive officer Dato’ Nonee Ashirin Dato Mohd Radzi.

She added that beyond expanding the group’s presence in Brunei, the appointment demonstrates the strength of the relationship between GTA and Safran HE.

Under the agreement, GTA is authorised to market, sell and otherwise distribute selected Safran Helicopter Engines products and services within Brunei.

The products covered include, among others, engines, modules, spare parts, tools and second-hand engines or modules, while the services include specified maintenance services, standard exchange products, SBH offers and training services.

The agreement kicks in once both parties have signed and the initial set-up conditions are met, and runs until July 31, 2027.

Safran HE is the regional hub of Safran Helicopter Engines in Asia. Based in Singapore, it supports more than 200 operators and over 1,100 helicopter engines in service across 19 countries.

GTA listed on the ACE Market on September 8 at its IPO price of 35 sen, closing its maiden day at 33.5 sen. The listing raised RM71.75 million from the issuance of 205 million new shares.
