More Gifts From Japan
SHAH ALAM: Fresh from delivering drones and rescue boats, Japan has agreed to donate 3.1 billion yen (RM85.28 million) to Malaysia in funding under the fiscal year 2025 Official Security Assistance.
Among others the Malaysia Armed Forces will received a diving support vessel as well as equipment to support the activities of the Asean observer team stationed at the Cambodian-Thailand border in conjunction with the KL peace treaty.
It is likely the diving support vessel will be a new ship to be operated by the RMN.
The OSA agreement was signed on October 27 in Kuala Lumpur but Japan Embassy in Kuala Lumpur only published the release today likely due to the current ASEAN summit.

On October 22nd, Ambassador SHIKATA Noriyuki and H.E. Mr. Mohd Yani bin Daud, Deputy Secretary General of Ministry of Defense of Malaysia, signed and exchanged notes for 3.1 billion yen in Official Security Assistance(OSA) FY2025 project.
This project is to provide the Malaysian Armed Forces with a diving support vessel as well as equipment to support the activities of ASEAN observer team in the Cambodia–Thailand border areas. Japan will continue to strengthen the cooperation with Malaysia in the field of security through initiatives such as OSA and bilateral exercises under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
