YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz celebrates the successes of the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Association as Guest of Honour at the President’s Dinner 2025
Kuala Lumpur, 11 July, 2025 – The Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association hosted its second President’s Dinner on 11th July 2025, at the President’s Ballroom at the M Resort & Hotel, Petaling Jaya. The event, dedicated to the Malaysian aerospace industry, brought together more than 400 industry and government officials from across the broad spectrum of the aerospace industry.
YB Senator Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, in his vibrant keynote address stated that Malaysia's aerospace industry is projected to grow by 20–25% in 2025, building on its RM25.1billion revenue in 2024. He further advised that RM1.5billion in approved aerospace investments had been achieved in recent months and that the sector had recorded RM8.17billion in exports reflecting strong international confidence in Malaysia’s aerospace capabilities.
With over 30,000 skilled workers, the industry excels across aircraft manufacturing, engine components, avionics, maintenance services, systems integration, as well as the drone and space sectors. Tengku Zafrul credited this success to strong collaboration among government, academia and industry.
Recent deals, such as Malaysia Airlines increasing its Airbus A330neo orders to 40 and AirAsia’s commitment to 50 Airbus A321XLR aircraft, will reinforce Malaysia as a regional hub for MRO services, parts supply, and aerospace talent.
The Minister noted the global shift towards green aviation, digital systems, and resilient supply chains, emphasized the need for Malaysia to continue to develop future aerospace technologies. He highlighted the importance of aligning the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 with the National Industrial Master Plan 2030, encouraging ongoing collaboration with industry stakeholders to develop talent, localize technology development, and support of SMEs in driving growth.
During the evening, YB Minister also presented the association’s President Awards, in recognition of the significant contributions made at both the corporate and individual levels to the Aerospace Industry. Adjudged by an independent panel, these awards included the following categories: Leadership Competencies and Development Award and Aero Digital Excellence Award where the winner for both was Composite Technology Research Malaysia (CTRM) Sdn Bhd, the Aerospace Catalyst Award secured by Execujet MRO Services Sdn Bhd and the Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship Award won by Safran Landing Systems Malaysia Sdn Bhd. In the individual category the Aerospace Phoenix Award was won by Datin Shelina Razaly Wahi, a Partner with law firm Abdullah Chan & Co and the Aerospace Premiership Award was won by Mr Hazli Abu Hassan from Sky Futures Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
En Naguib Mohd Nor, the President of MAIA, in his welcoming address, thanked the Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry and the various MITI agencies including NAICO, MIDA, MATRADE and Crest for their unwavering support.
En Naguib stated that the year included a number of significant milestones for the association, including growing membership to over 120 companies, active participation in a number of major global aerospace events, as well as developing new international collaborations with trade delegations from Germany and the upcoming events with Japan and the Czech Republic.
