MAG expands Asean travel pacts to position KL as Asia's gateway
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) is expanding its partnerships with travel industry associations in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines as it seeks to widen distribution and customer reach across key regional markets.
The partnerships cover joint marketing, trade engagement and consumer initiatives.
MAG expects the partnerships to support incremental revenue and travel demand while strengthening Kuala Lumpur's role as a regional aviation hub.
In Malaysia, MAG has renewed its partnership with the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) for another three years.
MAG will remain the official airline partner and premier sponsor of Matta Fair events in Kuala Lumpur and its state editions nationwide.
In Singapore, MAG has become the preferred airline partner of the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (Natas).
The partnership covers sales initiatives and promotions for member agencies at the Natas Travel Fair.
In Indonesia, MAG secured preferred airline partner status with Astindo for one year from September 2026 to August 2027.
The arrangement includes participation in the Astindo Travel Fair, with Firefly also promoting selected regional routes and destinations.
In Thailand, MAG will work with the Thai Travel Agents Association through the Thai International Travel Fair to support consumer engagement and travel demand.
In the Philippines, its partnership with Travel Innovators will use the Travel Madness Expo as a platform for agent engagement, destination marketing and lead generation for MICE, corporate travel and passenger traffic.
MAG said the agreements expand its engagement beyond its own sales channels by working directly with travel agents, trade partners and consumers across the region.
Malaysia Airlines will also continue supporting Visit Malaysia 2026 by promoting Malaysia as a tourism destination and maintaining regional connectivity through Kuala Lumpur.
