Layang Layang Aerospace working with authorities following crash of its helicopter

KUALA LUMPUR: Layang Layang Aerospace is working closely with the relevant authorities following the crash of its Bo-105 helicopter near the Long Lellang STOLport in Sarawak today.

Its accountable manager Captain Shahdon Poong said it had activated its emergency response plan and was providing all possible assistance following the accident involving 9M-LLF, which was operating a Flying Doctor Service flight with five people on board, including the pilot.

"Layang Layang Aerospace is deeply saddened by the accident. Our thoughts were with everyone on board and their families during the deeply distressing time.

"We respectfully ask that the privacy of the families be observed. Further verified information will be released through the relevant authorities when appropriate," he said in a statement.

He added that the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), under the Transport Ministry, will investigate the accident in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.

"Layang Layang Aerospace would cooperate fully with the investigation," he said.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said a BO-105 helicopter carrying five people, including its pilot, crashed near the Long Lellang STOLport in Sarawak today.(

It said that it received notification of the incident from the Flight Information Service at 3.58pm.
