KAI Signs Strategic Aircraft Structures Pact with Brazil's Embraer
Korea Aerospace Industries (047810), or KAI, said on the 30th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Brazilian aerospace company Embraer on the 28th for strategic cooperation in the aircraft structures sector.
The agreement was arranged to strengthen cooperation between the two companies in a core area of the aerospace industry. It aims to explore potential business opportunities based on the two companies' technological capabilities and expertise, while establishing a basic framework for identifying future areas of cooperation.
Embraer is a global aerospace company with a diverse portfolio spanning commercial aircraft with 150 seats or fewer and business aircraft, as well as the defense, security, and agricultural aviation sectors. It provides full life-cycle solutions, from the design, development, manufacturing, and sales of aircraft and systems to maintenance and after-sales service. Since its founding in 1969, it has delivered more than 9,000 aircraft worldwide.
The two companies will pursue cooperation in various areas, including new technology research and development (R&D) and the identification of opportunities in the aircraft structures sector. In particular, by combining KAI's aerospace engineering technology with Embraer's aircraft development and manufacturing capabilities, they plan to explore various opportunities in the aerospace industry, such as strengthening technological competitiveness, enhancing industrial competitiveness, and improving manufacturing efficiency.
The companies also agreed to expand cooperation in design, engineering, manufacturing, and quality control, and to join forces in optimizing manufacturing processes and strengthening cost competitiveness.

"Based on the two companies' shared interest in aircraft structures and future aerospace technologies, we look forward to working closely together as we review the potential for future cooperation."
