JetBlue Launches Seasonal Airbus A220-300 Flights Between Boston & Traverse City

JetBlue has been quick to note its interest in expanding its route network to include new destinations, and this week the carrier announced flights to one of its most exciting cities yet. On June 5, Boston-based hybrid carrier JetBlue announced that it would be adding new nonstop services between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) to its summer schedule. These flights are seasonal, meaning that they will exclusively operate during the summer months.

Cherry Capital Airport serves Traverse City, Michigan, a popular holiday destination during the warm-weather months. The airline's new nonstop flights will operate on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays through October 25th, and the new service will connect New England and the rest of the airline's network to this popular destination. From Boston, JetBlue serves more destinations than any other air carrier. To celebrate the launch of this route, the airline is launching promotional fares that start as low as $69 one-way, with full terms and conditions available on the airline's website.

This Route Is An Exciting New Opportunity For Passengers

For those in search of a fun vacation to a new destination, this route allows passengers to fly nonstop to Traverse City, a place described by JetBlue as one of the nation's "best-kept" summer secrets. This new route will use the airline's Airbus A220 jets, a five-abreast airliner that has been optimized by European manufacturer Airbus to serve these kinds of sectors.

Everyone, including airport authorities, tourism board officials, and airline officials, appears to be very excited by the launch of this new route. In a statement, David Jehn, the vice president of network planning and airline partnerships at JetBlue, had the following words to share regarding the matter:

"This new route reflects our commitment to connecting more people to unique and underserved destinations. By adding Traverse City to our map, we’re not only opening the door for New Englanders to discover Northern Michigan’s natural beauty but also giving locals easier access to Boston and JetBlue’s broader network."

JetBlue noted that it was quick to add Traverse City to its route map for a few key reasons. Primarily, the service offers connectivity from Northern Michigan to the East Coast, meaning that there is the potential for two-directional traffic.

As previously mentioned, these flights will operate exclusively during the summer months, adding them to a long list of services primarily aimed at catering to leisure travelers during the peak summer travel season. Specifically, the airline launched its first flight from Boston to Traverse City on June 5, and flights are set to continue through October 25 of this year.

The outbound services from Boston will depart from Logan Airport at 09:40 and touch down after a few hours in the air at 11:56. Outbound services will be numbered as JetBlue Flight 1263.

In the return direction, services will operate as JetBlue Flight 1264. These flights will depart at 12:45, and they will touch back down at Logan Airport just a few hours later at 14:47.

What Exactly Does Traverse City Bring To The Table?

Nonstop flights to Traverse City will give the airline a chance to cater to a new kind of customer, one who would not have otherwise traveled to Traverse City if quick and affordable flights were not available. The destination itself is attractive to travelers for a few different reasons.

Located along Grand Traverse Bay, the city offers the general ambiance of a coastal community in the Midwest. Visitors are welcome to hike the trails of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and visit the towering lighthouses along the shores of Lake Michigan.

The city is also known for its thriving culinary culture, giving visitors every opportunity to enjoy something the city has to offer. This flight is yet another example of JetBlue attempting to expand the customer demographic that it caters to.
