ICCAIA AND ICAO ALIGN ON STRATEGIC PRIORITIES AHEAD OF A42

On the occasion of the ICCAIA’s March Board Meeting in Montreal, the Chair took the opportunity to invite ICAO Secretary General Juan-Carlos Salazar for a discussion and exchange on ICAO’s priorities for the next triennium.

Unsurprisingly, the main focus for ICAO in 2025 is the upcoming Assembly (A42), where several important decisions will be taken—particularly regarding the organization’s funding for the next three years and beyond.

Mr. Salazar pointed out that ICAO’s budget has remained effectively frozen for a number of years, resulting in a real-term de crease due to inflationary pressures. He emphasized the need to ensure ICAO is adequately resourced to support both State and industry priorities, especially in light of rapidly evolving technologies and emerging market segments.

The Secretary General went on to recognize and thank the industry for the support that it offers, and the technical expertise that is brought to bear by the aerospace manufacturing sector. He stated that he hoped for cooperation to continue into the future.

The ICCAIA Chair acknowledged the challenges facing ICAO and reiterated industry’s continued support for all the efforts in developing Standards and Recommended Practices that are of benefit to the safety, security and environmental efficiency of the global aviation sector.
