ATR Looks To Improve Main Landing Gear Maintenance

ATR is planning to turn its attention to main landing gear maintenance as part of its in-service improvement program, which was formally launched in 2025.

Speaking at the release of ATR’s 2025 results, ATR CEO Nathalie Tarnaud Laude said the in-service improvement (ISI) program aims to address “pain points” that operators have faced for many years.

The program is focused on improving operating costs, dispatch reliability and technical support across existing ATR 42 and ATR 72 fleets.

“We are working on improving corrosion,” Laude said, along with “increasing the time between overhauls from a two-year calendar check, for example, to a three-year calendar check.”

ATR has already worked intensively with Safran on nose gear maintenance. “We plan to do the same on the main landing gear,” Tarnaud Laude said.

ISI is expected to deliver its first results in 2028. “Our customers would really benefit from that,” she said.
