Anduril To Double Size of Space Unit With Defense Acquisition
Anduril Industries Inc. is set to double the size of its space unit with the acquisition of national security company ExoAnalytic Solutions Inc., marking a significant expansion of the company’s space defense program.
Anduril’s space business, announced in 2024, focuses on using AI-powered technology to track and defend assets in orbit, like national security satellites.
The acquisition of California-based ExoAnalytic, which specializes in missile defense modeling, will add about 130 employees to Anduril’s current space-dedicated team of around 120, doubling the size of the group, according to Gokul Subramanian, senior vice president of engineering at Anduril.
“This business unit has grown among the fastest at any unit at Anduril, and where my posture is, we’re going to continue to massively invest in this and grow it out,” Subramanian told reporters during a briefing.
The terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
The acquisition comes as President Donald Trump’s administration works to boost US space defenses, such as the real-time tracking of military conflicts and the multibillion-dollar Golden Dome missile defense shield.
Other commercial companies, like Sierra Space and Voyager Technologies Inc., are increasingly embracing national security and defense capabilities in a bid to win government contracts.
The combination will allow Anduril to use ExoAnalytic’s global network of commercial telescopes and missile defense software to better monitor objects in orbit and respond to them for national security missions, according to a press release.
“We expect that team to come right into our space business, supercharge everything we do in space, on Earth and in missile defense,” Subramanian said.
