We are seeking a Ardupilot Engineer (Robotics Deployment) to lead the deployment, configuration, and optimization of Meraque’s Autonomous Ground Vehicle (AGV) rovers in real-world environments.
This role focuses on commissioning AGVs, tuning navigation and control systems based on environmental conditions, and ensuring reliable autonomous performance in agricultural and industrial settings. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with ArduPilot/ArduRover or PX4 and understands AGV system architecture end-to-end.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. AGV Deployment & Commissioning
Deploy and commission AGV rovers at customer sites.
Configure autopilot systems (ArduPilot / ArduRover / PX4).
Perform system calibration, validation, and field acceptance testing.
Ensure stable and safe autonomous operations before project handover.
2. System Tuning & Optimization
Tune PID controllers for steering, throttle, braking, and skid-steer systems.
Optimize navigation parameters based on terrain, slope, traction, and mission type.
Configure and validate RTK-GNSS systems for high-precision positioning.
Adjust sensor fusion settings to improve localization accuracy and reliability.
3. Navigation & Sensor Integration
Integrate and calibrate key sensors including:
IMUs
RTK GNSS modules
LiDAR / Radar systems
Wheel encoders and odometry sensors
Diagnose and resolve communication issues (CAN, UART, I2C, SPI).
Validate obstacle avoidance and path-following performance.
4. System Architecture Understanding
Maintain strong understanding of AGV system architecture:
Autopilot stack (ArduPilot / ArduRover / PX4)
Companion computer integration
Telemetry systems
Power management systems
Work closely with Product Development Team to improve deployment standards and field robustness.
Provide structured field feedback for continuous system improvement.
5. Field Support & Demonstration
Conduct system demonstrations and validation tests.
Provide technical support during deployment phases.
Troubleshoot and resolve field-level operational issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
Technical Skills
Hands-on experience with ArduPilot / ArduRover or PX4.
Strong understanding of PID tuning and control systems.
Experience deploying and tuning autonomous ground vehicles.
Strong knowledge of RTK positioning systems.
Understanding of sensor fusion and localization principles.
Familiarity with communication protocols: CAN, UART, I2C, SPI.
Basic programming knowledge in C++ or Python.
Soft Skills
Strong field troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Ability to adapt system parameters based on environmental conditions.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
Good communication skills for coordination with R&D and customers.
Preferred (Not Mandatory)
Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System).
Experience with agricultural or industrial robotics systems.
Experience with companion computers (e.g., NVIDIA-based systems).
Exposure to AI-based perception or navigation systems.
Location
Based at HQ with travel required for deployments, demonstrations, and onsite optimization. Malaysia and overseas.
