Asia-Pacific region projected to need over 143,000 skilled MRO personnel by 2042

The recent Malaysia Aerospace Council (MAC) meeting, chaired by YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, highlighted the opportunities and challenges in our aerospace sector, aligning with the vision of NIMP 2030. With the Asia-Pacific region projected to need over 143,000 skilled MRO personnel by 2042, Malaysia must address its current output of just 120 licensed aircraft engineers annually. This talent gap is not just a statistic—it’s a call to action. NAICO Malaysia, through its initiatives under the MyAERO Centre, is working tirelessly to bridge this gap. Programs like FLIGHT, which offers targeted short-term training for aerospace professionals, and MyAERO Talent, which engages schools around Malaysia, are already making an impact by nurturing interest and building a skilled talent pipeline. All this is in-line with NAICO Malaysia’s role as the custodian for Malaysia Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 (MAIB2030). Thank you to YB Menteri, YB Timbalan Menteri and all council members from various ministries, agencies, and aerospace companies for their insights and support in advancing Malaysia’s aerospace ambitions. Together, we soar higher!
